Patient Survey Results

We have always surveyed our patients on their experiences and use this to drive improvements from the patient's perspectives. In addition, we are evaluated by patients using the Press Ganey and HCAPS scores which are nationally compared. Our program does extremely well; we typically receive the best ratings in Western Pennsylvania.

We believe this info is very helpful in providing "transparency" which is very important for patients in order to make the right health care decisions.

Press Ganey
The Press Ganey survey data allows clients to compare their satisfaction scores to peer groups, e.g., hospitals with the same bed volume, and to benchmark their scores. Press Ganey Associates, Inc., is the recognized leader in satisfaction measurement for the health care industry.  Based in South Bend, Indiana, Press Ganey Associates, founded in 1985, is the world’s largest health care satisfaction measurement firm, processing more than four million surveys annually for over 1,200 current health care client organizations.  Press Ganey provides tested, reliable satisfaction surveys, comprehensive management reports, and national comparative databases for our nation’s performance improvement initiatives.

These results cover all of UPMC Magee Women's Hospital. Renaissance Orthopaedics is listed as "Unit 4100."

HCAHPS
HCAHPS stands for Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. In the summer of 2002, the Centers for Medicare and Medial Services (CMS) asked the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to develop an instrument to measure patients perception of care. This measurement is used to publicly report hospital performance (quality of care as perceived by patients). The goal of this public reporting instrument is to provide consumers with information that might be helpful in choosing a hospital. CMS has also stated that it should complement rather than compete with quality improvement instruments already being used by hospitals.

Patient Satisfaction Surveys

Renaissance Orthopaedics conducts patient satisfaction surveys on a regular basis.

The surveys are designed to evaluate patients' interactions with our office in an ongoing effort to monitor and improve service excellence.

The surveys are conducted in one of two ways:

  • A patient may be asked to anonymously complete and return a survey questionnaire at the time of his/her office visit.
  • A patient may be contacted by phone and asked a series of survey questions sometime during the week following his/her office visit.

Survey data is analyzed and used to identify ways in which we can attain our goal of providing patients with the best care possible while accommodating their needs in a timely manner.
